Fees & Billing
As of the July 1st, 2022 Health Care Card holders will pay a fee for service on the day of the visit as do private patients, but at a reduced rate. Pensioners, Veterans Affairs and children under 16 will be bulk billed.

OBTAINING YOUR MEDICARE REBATE
For private patients, we now have a variety of options for you to receive your Medicare Rebate:
- Instant refund into a cheque or savings account via your cash card.
- If you have your bank Account Number & BSB, refund can be deposited into your bank account.
- From July 1st 2016, Medicare will no longer issue cheques for refunds. For further information please visit humanservices.gov.au
- A Gap is the out of pocket cost after the Medicare Rebate.
REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS & REFERRALS WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT
For repeat prescriptions and referrals to be printed by the doctor without being seen, there is a fee of $10.00.
Alternatively, there is at least one script clinic held each day, where a doctor will see patients for very short script only appointments.
These appointment are bulk billed.
CASTLEMAINE HEALTH PRIVATE PATIENTS ACCOUNTS
If you elect to be admitted to Castlemaine Health as a private patient , your regular GP (and sometimes the On Call Doctor at the hospital) will visit you whilst you are in hospital. Private accounts for these visits will be issued and posted to you with a medicare claim form and two way claim form for your private insurer.
