COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update

HELP US KEEP MSC BUG FREE! STAY AT HOME AND USE THE PHONE!

Please know we are doing everything we can to keep you safe and minimise the spread of COVID-19. To date there have been a number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Castlemaine.

Please stay at home unless it is absolutely necessary for you to do otherwise. It is imperative that you stay at home. Social and physical distancing will help minimise the spread of disease.

If you have cold or flu symptoms, including sore throat, runny nose, cough, or fever do not come into the clinic. You must call first for medical advice. The testing criteria in Victoria has now been expanded to include anyone with a fever or respiratory symptoms. So please call the clinic to arrange a test if you are experiencing any of these symptoms.

Patients will be tested outside in the car park at the back of the clinic.

PLEASE STAY HOME AND USE THE PHONE – DO NOT ATTEND THE CLINIC

Our receptionists will arrange a time for a telephone consultation with one of the doctors and your need for testing for Covid-19 will be assessed and then arranged. If you are well, we cannot test you as the test is unlikely to be positive.

If you are tested for Covid-19 then you must self-isolate until your results come through and then for 2 weeks if you are positive. Self-isolation means you go straight home (not using public transport) and you stay at home with NO trips to the shops, work, school, university, friends, library, cinema or chemist. Self-isolation is important to prevent the spread of infection, keep us all safer and reduce the strain on the health system. Most cases of Covid-19 are mild and can be managed at home. Your GP will stay in contact by phone and advise in the unlikely case that you get sicker (with signs of pneumonia) and need to go to the Emergency Department and possibly admitted to hospital.

From Monday 30th March doctors will be able to conduct bulk billed telephone and Telehealth consults for all patients unless it is absolutely necessary for patients to be seen face to face.

We are strictly adhering to hygiene guidelines within all face to face consultations.

We hope we can all work together to can keep everyone as safe as possible, and that this will pass soon.
